Electric air taxis are coming to North Texas — and it's a signal worth watching.
Joby Aviation's new Fort Worth hub is part of a bigger pattern of investment in the DFW Metroplex. Here's what it could mean if you're buying or selling near Mansfield, TX.
A new kind of transportation is landing in Fort Worth
Joby Aviation has signed a lease for 45,000 square feet at Alliance Air Trade Center in Haslet, part of Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport. It's the first significant North Texas presence by an electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft manufacturer, and it places our region at the center of a fast-moving shift in how people may travel between DFW cities in the years ahead.
The new facility sits inside Hillwood's AllianceTexas development, within the AllianceTexas Mobility Innovation Zone, an area purpose-built to bring together infrastructure, airspace, and industry partners focused on next-generation mobility technology.
Watch the breakdown
I cover this story and what it means for our local market in more detail below.
What Joby's plans look like
Joby intends to test its electric aircraft in preparation for commercial operations and support future air taxi service across the Dallas-Fort Worth area, working within the federal eVTOL Integration Pilot Program. Texas's broader pilot project is structured around regional connections between major cities like Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and eventually Houston, with the long-term goal of making short regional trips faster and more accessible.
AllianceTexas itself is already a significant economic engine for our region, home to more than 600 companies and over 73,000 direct jobs. Joby's arrival adds another layer to that growth story.
Why this matters if you're buying or selling in Mansfield
- Major infrastructure and aviation investment tends to support long-term regional growth and property demand.
